Summer Reads 2019
Hey everyone, welcome back to Shades of Tay - blog style!
Another season has come and gone, I'm so excited to be going into fall because it is my favourite season out of all 4. But before we jump into fall I want to share with you all the reading I did over July - September. I have 8 books to share with you and I will let you know that this season NONE of them disappointed, it will be hard to narrow down to my favs this time.
1. You'd be mine - Erin Hanh
I am a sucker for a country love story, honestly. I'm a dedicated fan to the show Nashville and the entire time reading this book it gave me that exact vibe I got while binging the Nashville series. The dynamic between the two main characters made my heart throb. Definitely recommend reading this one, especially in the warm months - such a good beach read.
2. Sometimes I lie - Alice Feeney
I feel like this has to be my favourite mystery/thriller I've read thus far. I am just starting to venture into this genre but I keep thinking about this book and how invested I was. I have recommended this to everyone that asks me for book suggestions. It is seriously a must-read. I cannot wait to dive more into Alice's books - I Know Who You Are looks super intense.
3. Burying Water - K.A. Tucker
Talk about a page turner, this book is truly one of the most unique I've read. There are a few different story lines going which is a little confusing at the beginning but once you get the full synopsis of the characters it all comes together. The story is gripping at times, I found myself quickly going from angry to excited and back again. I really couldn't put this one down, definitely recommend K.A. Tucker.
4. Keep Her Safe - K.A. Tucker
This Canadian author has stole my soul I swear, I am addicted to her writing, I want to read everything she puts out into the world. Keep Her Safe is another heart-wrenching book, there are a few story lines going on that all seem to piece together this crazy family-friend dynamic. The main character Noah is just an angel and is tested with navigating the deep past of his mother.
5. Ten Tiny Breaths - K.A. Tucker
After reading Keep Her Safe I felt like I needed more K.A. Tucker in my life so I picked this one up. I am surprised that each time I read a book by her I am never disappointed, she has become one of my top authors alongside Colleen Hoover. This story is pretty gut-wrenching and a little hard to read about at times but I like those types of books. I believe Ten Tiny Breaths is one of her bestselling novels to date. There are a few more in this series but they are spinoffs of other characters, I definitely can't wait to get my hands on those as well.
6. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things - Bryn Greenwood
I had never heard of this author until I read an article on Pinterest about books you must read in 2019 so I picked up All the Ugly and Wonderful Things and holy crap!!!!!! This book is SO messed up in SO many ways but I couldn't stop reading. It was so unnerving but addicting, I didn't want to stop reading this at all. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this author because I am most definitely intrigued to read more by her.
7. Five Feet Apart - Rachael Lippincott
I've wanted to see this movie for a while now but I really wanted to read the book first because I had heard so many great reviews. The book was so good, the story line was so sad but also educational at the same time. Justin Baldoni (Rafael from Jane the Virgin) directed the movie and man it did not disappoint one bit compared to the book, I was very impressed.
8. Unhoneymooners - Christina Lauren
I finished this book two days ago, hence the delay on getting this post up! I freaking love Christina Lauren - I've enjoyed everything I've read by her. I read her first book a few years ago and I keep coming back to her stuff. Unhoneymooners is a fun and witty but sexy and strange story - it really keeps you rooting for the main characters the whole time. Definitely a great summer read!
That's a wrap, I'll be back with the books I read in the remainder of 2019 - wow, that went quick!!!
