DIY - Box Full of Sunshine
Updated: Jul 25, 2019
Hey everyone, welcome back to Shades of Tay - blog style!
I'm super excited to share this post with you as it is my first DIY project that I've done for my blog and it is so easy to do! I got the idea off of Pinterest (of course), but put my own twist on it, which I hope you all enjoy! This project is called a "Box Full of Sunshine" and it's purpose is to brighten up a loved ones day. I am doing this for a friend's birthday - she has been super swamped with school and life lately so I wanted to do something a little different this year. When I stumbled upon this idea on Pinterest, I figured it was absolutely perfect!
All of the things you put in this box need to be yellow, as yellow is a very bright and uplifting colour, representing happiness. Some of the things I included in my box were a mug, candle, lip balm, hand cream and miscellaneous snacks. You can put whatever you would like into your box, everyone's preferences are different. I wanted to spice the box up a little bit because it is a friend's birthday, so I went and got a Forever 21 gift card which was perfect because it's yellow as well and stays within the theme AND who doesn't love a little shopping for their birthday?!
The dollar store was my best friend during this project. I picked up both the snacks and the mug, as well as the things I needed in order to wrap up the box. I grabbed a black multipurpose basket to put everything into - this is great because my friend will be able to use this for anything she'd like. I wrapped it with translucent wrap and some yellow ribbon, but you could get a cardboard box and paint it. You can wrap it however you'd like, as there are a bunch of different ways. I'll link some ideas below. After I placed everything nicely into the basket, I took a sheet of the translucent wrap, laid it under the basket and pulled up the corners, tying it with the yellow ribbon. Then I just took some scissors and curled the ends of the bow. Super quick and easy!
I love how simple, easy and affordable this gift was - it definitely doesn't need to be done for only a birthday! It could be for any occasion or even a 'just because' gift. My twist of the Box Full of Sunshine went so well and she absolutely loved it! I hope you liked this project and try it for a loved one - I'd love to see your twist on it!
